December
Wow!! What a crazy busy month! Today we wrapped up our last day together before our two week break! Although we will miss each other, I think we are all looking forward to relaxing and refreshing for the new year. The kids were wonderful this week and were just so excited to have some fun with each other at the class holiday party.
To help welcome the students from Sandy Hook back to school, we are taking part in their winter wonderland decorations. Each student in my class made a beautiful snowflake that will hang on the walls as part of the winter wonderland. I am so happy I learned of this before the break so we could take part in such an important thing. We didnt discuss anything to do with the incident, all I said is that we are making special snowflakes for students at another school. Here is how our snowflakes came out. How precious!?!?

FRY Word FUN
Oh FRY words... there are so many of you! How can we help our kinders to remember these words that you..cant..sound..OUT! Well most of them anyways! Repetition, repetition, repetition! Here are a few fun ideas you can do with your kinders to help them with practicing those FRY words!
FRY word fishing (put magnets on the end of string and on the fish pieces and VOILA!)
Fabulous idea shared by a co-worker!
FRY word hopscotch (this picture shows letter sounds which I do in the beginning of the year and then switch it to FRY words. I put velcro on the back of the pieces so the kids don't slip on them.)
Roll a FRY word
Decode the sentences (write the words with white crayons and paint over it with water colors to decode the words - put the words in the correct order to recreate the sentences)
The Five Senses
Below is a picture of a simple, yet fun and practical activity that we did during our Five Senses Unit. Below that picture is a snippet of my Five Senses Mini Unit found on my Teachers Pay Teachers store (link is on the right)!!

We read Santa's Stuck and then made our own version of Santa stuck in a chimney!
We made Kinaras to help us learn about Kwanzaa!
Sinterklass (Holland's Santa) came to visit our class!
Look at the mess his white horses left when they ate the carrots we left out!
A Fabulous and Fresh New Look! FREEBIE too!!!
New blog look, new blog posts! Out with the old and in with the new! I am excited to be back into the blog world! I am much more comfortable with the blog world now and ready to jump right back in!
For my new followers, I am excited to share a few things with you all. First, I would like to introduce you to myself and my little family. Below is a picture of the love of my life, Jon, and my spoiled little man, Tucker. I don't know what I would do without them!
This is my second year in Kindergarten and I'm loving it. The kids have blown me away with the progress they have already made, especially with the Common Core monkey sitting on my back! Boy, that was a stressful way to start the new year, but we've got it under control! I am super thankful for my amazing co-workers for all of their support and dedication to all of the hours of planning and discussions. Way to go owls!
Ok so what better way to start my fresh new look than with a FREEBIE?? The first 5 people to leave a comment of some sort will receive my Polar Bear Word Family Center! This center can also be found on my Teachers Pay Teachers store! (My little widget is to the right --->) :)
I am super excited to be back and blogging! If you have any questions or comments, lets hear 'em! Thank you, friends!
